Did you know the muscles that support your bowel, bladder and reproductive organs can be improved using manual treatments, dry needling, cupping and exercise? Just like any other muscle, the structures between your hips and pelvis can be examined and treated in a physical therapy setting. The muscles of the pelvic floor play a vital role in daily activities such as going to the bathroom, picking up your toddler from their crib, and coughing, laughing and sneezing!
They also share connections with the lumbar spine and hips, making them an often overlooked piece in lower back and hip dysfunction. When coming in for a pelvic floor PT initial evaluation, you will be welcomed with a private space to share your concerns then educated on a proper plan of care, emulation and treatment. During your IE and treatment session thereafter, an internal pelvic floor assessment may be right for you, which will be thoroughly defined by your physical therapist.
Pelvic floor physical therapy is not just for new moms or people with chronic pain. Everyone has a pelvis, which means everyone can benefit from improved strength, control, and function. We work with males, females, and adolescents to address a wide range of concerns, including pregnancy and postpartum recovery, labor preparation, vaginismus, pain with sex, menstrual pain, endometriosis, PCOS, and incontinence.
We also treat common orthopedic and performance related issues that connect back to the pelvic floor. This includes tailbone pain, sciatica, lower back pain, hip labral injuries, constipation, and guidance for returning to running or impact activity. Our goal is to help you move, train, and live with better comfort and confidence.
